Message from the COSWD, Marie A. Bernard, M.D.

I am delighted to begin April by sharing updates from the COSWD team. First, I invite you to watch our two new videos. One

explains the COSWD mission, and the other introduces the Engagement and Access for Research-Active  Institutions (EARA) initiative

Another highlight was awarding the NIH DEIA Prize to 10 institutions for demonstrating exceptional dedication and innovation in fostering inclusive research environments.

And please explore our redesigned website, especially the milestones summarized in our 2023 Year in Review. This summer, we anticipate the release of our first progress report, describing the headway we are making toward our goals outlined in our Strategic Plan thus far. I hope you will find it informative and useful.

Your support is instrumental to our success, and I look forward to continued collaboration and achievement.

COSWD News Roundup

Meet the NIH DEIA Prize Competition Awardees

In January, we announced the 10 recipients of the NIH DEIA Prize Competition. These institutions implemented innovative strategies that promote equity and eliminate structural barriers to success among students, postdoctoral scholars, and faculty. We applaud their work and the basis for the prizes—and look forward to what will be accomplished in the future.

Visit the COSWD blog for a list of the prize recipients.

Catch Up with the Scientific Workforce Diversity Seminar Series

The recording and slides from our March seminar on team science and diversity are now online. Our next seminar takes place on Thursday, June 20: "How Are Institutions Transformed to Foster Cultures of Inclusive Excellence?"

Subscribe to the COSWD listserv to receive seminar updates.

Discover the Engagement and Access for Research-Active Institutions Initiative

The COSWD team leads the UNITE-inspired Engagement and Access for Research-Active Institutions (EARA) initiative. Recent EARA activities include releasing a video on EARA’s mission and updating the EARA webpage with resources for Research-Active Institutions.
